What is freediving ?

Freediving is a type of underwater diving in which the diver holds their breath and descends into the water without the use of any external breathing apparatus such as scuba tanks. The objective of freediving is to explore the underwater environment and experience the sensation of being completely immersed in water.

Freediving requires the diver to control their breathing and to stay relaxed while diving to depths of up to several hundred feet. This sport can be done both recreationally and competitively and has several disciplines, including constant weight, free immersion, and variable weight.

In constant weight freediving, the diver uses fins to descend to a predetermined depth and returns to the surface using only the strength of their muscles. This can be done with a Monofin or Bi fins.
